The dramatic success story of Prince Edward Island's Yorkshire hog is unique and perhaps unprecedented in the history of livestock production. For the past 30 years P.E.I. breeders have adhered rigidly to a carefully worked-out program designed to create one of the finest hogs in the world. Today their efforts are paying off: the percentage of P.E.I. hogs who win the coveted Grade A stamp is almost twice as high as the overall Canadian average.
